Senate Judiciary Chair Tom Umberg Responds to Passing of President Carter

(Sacramento, CA) – Senator Thomas J. Umberg (D-Santa Ana), Chair of the California Senate Judiciary Committee, issued the statement below in response to the passing of former President Jimmy Carter yesterday at 100 years old.

“Jimmy Carter was a great man – who was also a president. His passion for those in need as evidenced by Rosalyn and Jimmy’s dedication to Habitat for Humanity, his devotion to his wife and family, his naval service, his deep faith, and humility as a Sunday School teacher – make him a role model for all of us in public service. Jimmy Carter’s lesson in character should be the standard that all elected leaders should strive for.”

Jimmy Carter was the 39th President of the United States and our country’s longest-living former leader.
