A Note From Tom Umberg:

As we close out a busy fall in the District, my team and I have been meeting with community partners, supporting local events and preparing for the work ahead in 2026. It’s been wonderful to see so many of you throughout November, especially during Thanksgiving week when our communities come together to support one another.

As we turn toward the holiday season and the end of the year, I also want to invite you to join me and my team for our annual Community Holiday Party & Toy Drive on December 10 at our District Office. You’ll find more information and the RSVP below in this newsletter.

I wish you and your families a joyful, safe, and restful holiday season. Thank you for your continued engagement and for the privilege of serving our community. I look forward to seeing you in the new year! 

La Habra Veterans Day

Robin and I were honored to be invited to speak at the annual La Habra Veterans Day celebration. Always an outstanding event, we were moved by the stories of those who have served their country and the chance to honor and thank them. Thank you to the City of La Habra, Sal Ortega and Carrie Nocella for organizing the event and all of the city staff that made this event truly special.

Frank Garcia's Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Distribution

Team Umberg was proud to help continue a beloved Orange County tradition by participating in Frank Garcia’s annual Thanksgiving Turkey Distribution. For those who know Frank, this event represents his proud legacy — and for the more than 500 families who received food, it stands as a powerful example of our community coming together to care for one another.
A special thank-you to Anaheim Councilmember Carlos Leon for helping keep this tradition alive, as well as to Frank’s daughter Veronica and the entire Garcia family for carrying forward this meaningful work.

CARE Courts Community Hearing

As Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, I held a Joint Hearing in Orange County with my colleague, Senator Caroline Menjivar, on the state’s CARE Court program. I authored CARE Court several years ago in an effort to find new approaches in better assisting those who are homeless but facing serious mental health obstacles to getting permanently off the street. We heard from several health and legal experts across the state who highlighted best practices we can learn from and adapt to ensure this program is the most effective for those we want to help.

Senator Umberg Holiday Party

Please join me and my office for our annual Community Holiday Party & Toy Drive at our District Office in the Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center. Come get an update about what is going on in our community and what Team Umberg is working on. 

Doors open at 4:00 PM, and we are collecting unwrapped toy donations to support local families in need. We will also be hosting an Ugly Holiday Sweater Contest, so bring your best (or worst) festive sweater.
