Women of Distinction 2025

We are now accepting nominations for community focused and civically engaged women to be honored as a Senate District 34 Women of Distinction. Help celebrate National Women’s History Month, and the women who make valuable contributions to our community, by filling out the nomination form below!

For these awards, I invite you to nominate a woman, who lives or works in the 34th Senate District, who has made significant contributions to our community. We will be honoring women within various categories: Advocacy, Arts, Business, Community Service, Education, Health Services, Non-Profits, Public Safety, Veterans, and Volunteer Work.

The nomination deadline is February 28th, 2024 at 5pm. Nominations can be submitted by visiting filling out this form.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Live or work in the 34th District
  • Be nominated to a specific category (see below)
    • Please DO NOT self-nominate and DO NOT submit nominations for elected officials. These nominations will not be acknowledged or accepted.

CATEGORIES:

  1. Advocacy: Individuals involved in supporting causes or uplifting communities that positively impact the district and/or its residents.
     
  2. Arts: Individuals involved in creative fields, such as performing artists, visual artists, or design artists. Persons in management/administrative roles (i.e. galleries, museums, cultural programs, journalism, etc.) are also included.
     
  3. Business: Individuals who own or contribute to businesses that have achieved success. Individuals may also be considered for demonstrating a remarkable passion and/or for contributing to the advancement of their trade.
     
  4. Education: Individuals involved in developing and/or implementing educational programs at any level (i.e. teachers/instructors, faculty, staff, etc.).
     
  5. Health Services: Individuals dedicated to the enhancement of human health. Health services encompass disease prevention, health education/promotion and the provision of health care.
     
  6. Non-Profit: Individuals who manage or contribute to non-profit organizations that have upheld their mission and vision.
     
  7. Public Safety: Individuals in public safety occupations who are leaders in promoting peace, protection, and respect for all people.
     
  8. Student: Students involved and making waves in school or their communities. 
     
  9. Veterans: Individuals who have served in any branch of the Armed Forces.
     
  10. Volunteer Work/Community: Individuals who lead or have demonstrated exemplary volunteer services in their community.

Who Can Nominate?

  •  We encourage you to nominate unsung heroes in our community. Please note that self-nominations and nominations of elected officials will not be accepted. 

How many people can I nominate?

  • We do our best to nominate at least 3 individuals per category. Our team will contact you and the nominee with additional details if selected. 

What date will the ceremony be held?

  • The Women of Distinction Ceremony will be held on March 20th, 2025. Nominees and the person who nominated them will receive additional details once selected.
